Friends & Neighbors in its second season ramps up its satirical drama about an affluent suburb where smiles at parties are worth more than sincerity and status is more important than morals, until one man decides to play against the rules. The main character, after personal and professional collapse, finds himself on the verge of losing his usual life and begins to steal from those who yesterday called him theirs, because it is next to him that money, luxury goods and complacency live, which asks to be punished. The second season makes this story more voluminous, showing that theft is not only risk and adrenaline, but also a psychological addiction, an attempt to regain control, humiliate the system and at the same time not admit to oneself the pain. The farther you go, the more dangerous the double life becomes, because neighborhood ties are intertwined, everyone has their own secrets, and any wrong step can destroy children, relationships and the remains of their reputation. The series relies on dark humor and tension, where the viewer either sympathizes with the hero or is horrified by his choices, and the suburban comfort turns into the setting for a very adult story about class, shame and self-deception. The second season pushes the question of what exactly the hero is trying to steal, things or self-esteem.
